I never thought I would have to write this about a much loved, respected, and admired friend and mentor. A real stalwart of Kentwell Hall and a most loyal and supportive member of The Companye of Merrie Folke, both of which will miss him terribly. They say that no man is irreplaceable, Fred is the exception to the rule. His guidance, knowledge, and in-depth understanding of all things historical is a huge loss to the reenacting communities he loved so much. Always encouraging and generous with his time, Fred was never one to foist his opinion on others but would always ready to do so without fear or favour when asked. I will miss his wisdom, his humour, his loyalty and his friendship. God Bless you my friend and rest easy till we meet again. Paul X
